Optimalisasi Potensi Lokal dalam Meningkatkan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Melalui Program Urban Farming

Abstract

Panjang Baru Village in North Pekalongan District has great potential in developing community empowerment programs through Urban Farming. Urban Farming, or urban agriculture, is a method of farming on limited land in an urban environment that can improve sustainability, food security and environmental quality. This program aims to optimize the use of critical land and idle land which is often unproductive. Panjang Baru Subdistrict, which has an area of ​​1.1117 km² and a population of around 10,479 people, is carrying out Urban Farming activities as part of KKN group 25 on December 2 2024. This activity involves planting seeds and seeds such as eggplant, chili, spinach and kale using the method Capillary Fertigation and regular cultivation. Support and active participation from the community, RT/RW administrators, local government, and other organizations are very important for the success and sustainability of this program. Urban Farming in Panjang Baru Subdistrict is expected to be able to meet local food needs, create new jobs, and increase community awareness and concern for the environment. This program also faces various challenges such as limited land, less fertile soil quality, high initial costs, and unpredictable weather changes. By overcoming these challenges, Urban Farming has great potential to provide economic, social and environmental benefits for urban communities.
